Dynacomp wiring

Hi all,

I purchased one of the dynacomp boards from the for sale section here... I've got all the correct components and the board populated with them.  I want to wire it for true bypass with an LED and dc jack.  I've got all the components but I'm pretty lost as to what wire goes where.  I haven't wired anything from the pots yet, either.  The copy of the schematic I have is kind of faded and I won't pretend I'd know what's going on even if I could read it.  Can anyone give me an idea of what solder pad goes to what lug on the sensitivity and output pots as well as what goes from the pots to the jacks/footswitch?  I've got a 3pdt switch, stereo input jack, mono output jack, battery snap and a standard DC jack.  I also have an LED and don't really know what type of resistor to wire it with if anyone can help with that as well.  I've found a bunch of pics of this but they all deal with the standard wiring from the original and I think mine will end up having to be pretty different w/ the dc jack.  Thanks as always.

check tonepad.com and general guitar gadgets for dynacomp wiring and also offboard wiring.

Here's where I'm at... I'm using this diagram for the offboard wiring.  I've gotten everything wired but anything that runs to the board, pots, or ground:

What I need to know is are there board grounds on the dynacomp board or should I send those wires to one of the jacks? I also need to know what to run to the pots, then what to run from the pots to the switch.

Thanks again.

I dont know which PCB you have so I cant tell you.

Look at this one from tonepad.

Most boards will have one ground on the board, one input, one output, and holes for you pots.

Dont use your diagram use the one from the link I gave you.

Another important thing to know is that if your board doesnt have an output you can run a wire from lug 2 on your volume pot to the switch.

To know where to put them on the switch you have to look at the diagram I gave you. The one you have doesnt explain it.

If you look at your pots with the shaft facing down the first lug is 3, then 2 and 1.  Most boards or layouts will be labeled accordingly. If you cant find this then you have to look at the schematic and figure it out.

The diagram is self exlpanatory expect the fact that the output might not be on the board and you will have to do what I said previously.

Don't forget one for the power voltage! Here; I just whipped up a general schematic guide for off-board wiring that should apply to most any pedal project. I did not include wiring for the pots since I use PCB mounted ones. The large triangle grounds (GND) at the signal jacks is the chassis - strong bare metal enclosure surface contact with lock washer. This 3PDT footswitch wiring scheme should give you pop free switching too.

yup forgot to mention the 9v. Also ground everthing to the input jack.

Also ground everthing to the input jack.

Both jacks in my schematic are effectively tightly grounded well via a 3/8" toothed lock washer to the aluminum enclosure. If you do it like this and have paint on the insides, scrape it off around the inside jack holes for good metal to metal contact!

Thanks so much, guys.  I'll redo the offboard wiring to your diagram.  Here is the layout/schematic I've been using if that helps you to help me:

I recognize the voltage input and board ground now, my question is which lug of the pots do the "to sensitivity vr" and "to output vr" go to?  Then from the pots to where on the switch?

I used the green layout graphic you posted and this re-drawn factory schematic as a guide for the Dyna Comp clone I'm making too, with my own smaller custom PCB layout.

I had a lightbulb moment and found some info on how pots work so I think I've got an idea where to run wires now.  Thanks again for all the help.
