I'm not sure if this is the right place, so I accept all flaming if it's not.

I'm in the process of building a firefly amp with a few custom additions, such as a footswitch jack for the boost stage, and a dr. boogie circuit as a pseudo second channel. My problem is that i'm fairly new to building power supplies, and i need some help designing one to power the dr. boogie circuit. I don't want to use batteries or a wall wart, because i'm trying to keep this as professional looking as possible. I know i'm gonna need to build a rectifier bridge to convert the 9v ac from the transformer to dc, my question is which diodes should i use and what other advice can you offer me on the subject?

Hi
the simplest wat to get a quality 9V DC is to rectify at least 9V AC with a 4 diode bridge (1N4004/1N4007 etc) or a bridge in a package (e.g. WO4).  Then smooth it with a big cap (or even better, two medium-sized caps). e.g. 2 x 470uF 25V.  That'll give you a reasonably good 12 to 15 V DC.  Then put a 7809 regulator in the line.  It has 3 legs - input, output and earth.  Last requirement is a smallish cap (0.1uF), put close to the regulator.
There are many schematics like this on the web - try searching for schematics with 7809s in them.

Thank You. I think I've got something workable here now. Now i'm off to simulate it.
