valvecaster pot sub for troubleshooting?

i am trying to troubleshoot this valvecaster and i think it may be a bad pot causing the problem. the closest values i have to the only 50k that i have on hand (which is in the pedal) are 25k and 100k. would either of these work in the circuit?
