VRef formula?

I've noticed from looking at many schematics that a Vref is made by two equal value resistors and an electro cap (I'm assuming you know how to connect them). My question is: do the values matter as long as the resistors are the same? I ask because I've noticed many different values used for the resistors and capacitor and what they always have in common is the equal value resistors.

Like so many other things, this was answered long ago at GEOFEX.

You'll want to read: Designing bias networks to provide Vbias in effects at http://geofex.com/circuits/Biasnet.htm

In fact you might want to read the rest of GEOFEX.

In response to the questions in the forum - PCB Layout for Musical Effects is available from The Book Patch. Search "PCB Layout" and it ought to appear.

Go read RG's article first, but for quick testing, two 47k resistors and a 10u cap from Vref to ground will almost always work. Still, if you are designing circuits to build, it's worth figuring out what you need like in the GEO article.

Thanks. I've surfed around GEOFEX quite a bit, but somehow I never saw that.
