I just wanted to check out wether anybody here has successfully built this thing?
I'm planning to build one myself, but I'm cautious about the potential for errors, i'm not great at troubleshooting!
Plus, I currently have nothing to test it with, the synth comes next ;)

I have 2 boards completely populated but have never taken the final steps to wire them up and power them up.  On the stack. :icon_redface:

Get 'em finished Mark!

Hehe, I  know you take on an awful lot. Did you find any errors in your builds that might help?

I built his "light metal effects" which is a ring modulator with the carrier controlled by the pitch of your playing. I'm pretty sure the whole pitch-carrier section is from the P2V.

I was never able to get it to work. And the only other person I found here who built it had the same experience. I don't know if there was an error in the documentation, or what, but I suspect these projects may be less than completely confirmed.

Oh, curses!!!

Maybe I should try something else then?

I wonder if anybody has had any success extracting the front end of the GR300?

Penfold had a lot of stuff published, but the word that more often than not creeped into the text was "simple" which always worried me. This always worried me about effects construction articles in UK electronics mags - if they worked, they did........just. I think Tim Orr's circuits were in a much higher league - and of course my "original" circuit for the Autowah from Hobby Electronics, the one published having been changed by the idiot of an editor.

I tried breadboarding the Penfold P to V several times and could not get it to work, so in my view it is useless. If you're out there RP speak up and defend yourself and give us some samples!!!

Ok, I guess i'm not going to commit to building this then.

I did find a blog post where somebody claimed to have built it with some corrections, but gives no further details as to wether it worked or not.

EDIT: Some interesting info here actually, might stil be on.

What!!?  So there is a reason why mine didn't work all that well, despite being built from an official PCB, following the published article?

Do tell.  What were the substantive differences?
