you know when you twist the DELAY pot on most any analog delay box, you get this wild pitch bend sound? when if i got an expression/volume pedal, and hooked it up to the delay control of the emerald echo?!

the real question is, what is the plausible solution? add a 1/4" phone jack out from the delay pot to the pedal? also, i assume i should use the matched value of the delay pot, and replace the pot in the expression pedal with that value, or add resistors to match it?

opinions?

Yep, it'll do what you want.

The delay time in that circuit is controlled by a 1 meg pot wired as a rheostat (2 connections), which is lucky in that you'll only need a mono cable. You will need to change the pot in your expression pedal/volume, as none will be 1 meg as far as I know. This presents a mechanical issue: are any geared pots available in 1 meg? (I honestly don't know, but you can check smallbearelec.com.) If not, can you hack together a pinion that will fit over a standard pot? You are hackertronix, after all.

You can't add resistors to a smaller pot to equal a larger pot's functionality.

is that lee van cleef in your avitar?!  :o 8)

yeah, i see what you mean. i might be able to make a pot reach 1m, but i would not have the variance needed.

it's been forever since i took a volume pedal apart. do they have a pot with a longer shaft? if so, i can see where that might be hard to find. there has to be one somewhere...

would i want to disconnect the one in the delay box if i can do this?

Taylor

They're all different. The EB ones have a little wooden wheel with a string. You can buy this wheel and it might fit on any regular pot. Others have a rack and pinion gear.

You could either add it in parallel with the one in the box, or use a switching jack to disconnect the one in the box when the expression pedal is plugged in.
