Hello all!

I'm new around here and have been working on a few projects from the forum.  I came across an old plug in power supply from a peavy headphone amp and noticed that its output is 16VAC 1100mA.  I want to use it for my 12VDC amps and stompboxes that I am building, but I need a circuit for converting the AC to DC.  I plan on using a 7812 to bring it down to 12VDC or a 317 to have it adjustable.  Does anyone know where I can find such a schematic?

Thanks,
Matt

Here's a nice place to look into power supplies:

I built the Ultra Clean Power supply based on the LM317.
Highly recommended.

Or go read the articles on power supplies at Geofex. (http://www.geofex.com)
This (from 2001) is a good place to start:
http://geofex.com/Article_Folders/Power-supplies/powersup.htm

And this one (from 2000)
http://geofex.com/Article_Folders/Spyder/spyder.htm
has a lot of info on making regulators.

Better yet, read geofex - all of it.

In response to the questions in the forum - PCB Layout for Musical Effects is available from The Book Patch. Search "PCB Layout" and it ought to appear.
