from merlins layout here

im just not getting any power through Q3 terminal 3 to the switch.
alright, the first time i fired it up i had put the transistor in backwards.  :icon_eek: oops.
it took awhile to figure that out, but ive put a fresh transistor in with no results. so i have checked all the traces and solder joints. checked all of the component orientations also.

my power supply is a steady 9.48 volts
Q1
1, 8.87
2, 9.48
3, 0

D 1N4001
A, 0
C, 9.48

Z9V1
A, 0
C, 8.86

Im clueless as to what to look for next...
thanks in advance

Sounds like a short to ground after Q3. Measure the resistance between the 9V and ground tracks on the PCB with the IC and tubes removed (hopefully it's not zero).

Check for power again (still with IC and tubes removed).

I assume when you says the switch you mean the footswitch? Check for voltage when operating the switch- maybe it's wired wrong.
