Hi there, I built rebote delay 2.5 and I would modify this construction. I recording and making DUB/reggae music and I would like to know how I can will make runaway feedback effect and clean signal kill mod ? This mods I found in echobase documentary http://www.aronnelson.com/gallery/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=43077 (6 and 8 page PDF). This is schematic to Rebote Delay 2.5 http://www.tonepad.com/getFile.asp?id=98. This is possible in rebote delay 2.5 ? echobase and rebote used this same PT2399. I waiting to response. I will be grateful If someone trying help me :) Sorry my english is don't really good..

Yes, you can do that. I put that document together, but one thing about it is that it shows the mods on the PCB but not in schematic form. I plan to add a schematic showing the mods, as the way I have done it makes it really easy to do the mod, but doesn't show what's really going on there. I want the documents to be a little more informative from a theory standpoint, so that's something I'm working on.

To answer your question, basically you want to lower the value of that 15k which is highlighted on the Rebote schematic. That will allow for oscillation with the repeats at maximum. Then, use a switch to short lug 3 of the repeats pot to the wiper. This will send the full volume of the delay output back to its input, which will give you that self-oscillating dub sound.

Taylor, Could you draw this modified in rebote delay 2.5 layout  ? because I don't know how I can do it.

Somebody have any ideas? I waiting to more information ;)

Taylor

Remove the 15k resistor. Solder in a 10k resistor in its place.

Now wire a switch with the pole on the wiper of the repeats pot, and the throw to lug 3 of the repeats pot, the one not connected to ground.

I tried draw: Could you check that is correct? This is kill signal mod?

Taylor

That's the runaway feedback mod, also known as "dub madness". What you have drawn should work correctly.

To kill the clean signal, use a switch to disconnect the 24k directly next to IC2.

I do it :) It's working ! I record this effect with pen kick to microphone... This is something like drum... because I don't have drums in home :)
So, http://www12.speedyshare.com/files/26874905/download/runaway.mp3

It's working correct?

Taylor, Could you draw this kill signal switch ?

Thanks !

Edit: Ok, I know what do you mean. But unfortunately I must use to On-Off switch. I thought that I can doing to momentary switch (it's comfortable in using for example to live dubbing). Tommorow(central europe time) I will make this mod and give sign ;) greetings
