yes this is a neg ground pedal. with 9v+ in the ground.

Clamup1, That's a positive ground not negative ground your doing if your above statement is correct for what i know. Your using NPN Negative Collector and Negative Emitter. The power supply of the NEGATIVE (-) should be use. I read somewhere you can get away with that but RG has warned doing that isn't appropriate. RG can greatly help you just PM RG.
I breadboard years ago a FUZZ using NPN with negative supply and it works but i didn't like to build it into PCB coz it's not that good, maybe a real PNP germ with POSITVE ground using the Battery 9+ V is great or original in sound but I dont have PNP germ. As I said maybe i'm wrong just PM RG and link this thread.
Now on twalelljr link thread RG explain the black negative is the ground negative supply BATTERY 9v-, if your using negative ground you just hook the DMM black - to the -ground permanantly and probe the volt reading as suggested with RED PROBE + to any componenet. NOW yours is the reverse JUST HOOK THE RED PROBE permanantly on the ground + and use the NEGATIVE probe of the DMM to get the volt reading. I can't explain it step by step further but RG may enlighten US and other regarding using POSITIVE GROUND ISSUE, especially on NPN germ.
Hope i shared what i know and experienced BUT i'm not saying mime is correct my friend, RG can give more advise. He's the man.

no its supposed to be a neg ground pedal. (the red wire from the bat hooks to the pc board and the black to the sleeve of the jack) ive got power in the ground thats not supposed to be there. ive built the pos ground fuzz face. that was a fun project.

worth checking out the BC107 (TO 18 metal case) datasheet pinout ebc. http://www.datasheetcatalog.com/datasheets_pdf/B/C/1/0/BC107.shtml
