Flatline Comp. Debug

I used an optocoupler from goldline. I had a short and bad tl072 (maybe caused by the short) now fixed.
I get a clear signal (about unity) but no noticeable compression and the sustain pot does nothing.

I am about ready to change the diodes as I cant seem to find anything else wrong with the circuit.
Germanium overheats easily dosent it?

I have no information on the "heating" question.  If you intend to change the diodes, replace them with germanium diodes.  I think the circuit exploits something about them.
