Easyvibe Power option question

Hi, I built an Easyvibe using the GEOFEX layout. 1st attempt was a failure, but lo and behold... I simply reversed the orientation of the LED's and, eureka! Sounds great BTW. If anyone wants an image of my revised layout (minor changes, incl. square pads for LED anode/cathode orientation and some tight traces cleaned up)... let me know. I redrew it in AutoCAD.

Here's my question, I wired in a power supply jack but when using the vibe with a power supply (boss psa) the effect sounds totally different. Uneven, no depth or swing. I was a little frightened, so I disconnected the power so to not fry something. It actually took a minute or so for the thing to recover and sound right again. I used it for a gig last weekend... sounded great.

Anybody know what would cause this behaviour. I have seen a mod on here involving a 100K resistor in series with with the jack, but it seems that that was there to eliminate ticking (which isn't a problem for me) also, it seems this mod would also put the 100K resistor on the battery.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

I would am in the middle of and easy vibe build
The polarity and orientation of the LED's would be a huge help as I have read some conflicting information
Thanks Ed
