i think Eddystone is a European manufacturer associated with Hammond (or owned by), they are usually the same sizes, even if with another codenames
That may well be the reason they are cheaper in EU than Hammond

deadastronaut

they are the ones we use in th uk.....less rounded than the hammonds....around £4.20. for a 1590b.

i never understood why we get the eddystones (squared) in the uk, and the rest of the world get hammond (rounded) ones.

i even sent them an email about it, and got no response.... :icon_rolleyes:

+1 for both Rapid and Eddystone Enclosures.

Easy to drill out, and readily available at a fair price.

If you buy 20 at a time you pay £3.12 per enclosure including VAT - free shipping. You do plan to build more stompboxes don't you?  ;D

Before you finish the big Eddystone enclosures, run a file around the bottom edge of the box and the base, they tend to have a bit of casting flash.  If you dont the paint ends up collecting on it, and results in a untidy edge.  The small ones are fine.

My latest Rapid order just arrived, less than 24 hours after I placed it. All the 1590B's are perfect as far as they have no flash to file off. The 1590BB's on the other hand are all seriously flashed, as are the 1590A's. I wonder why the B's are perfect and the others are not........?

yup, apparently there's two different versions. The ones with the rough edges have an eddystone logo on the inside of the lid. The cleaner ones don't.

My understanding is Eddystone got bought by Hammond a few years back. Hammond has some restrictions that in the UK the Hammond name will not be used but outside the Eddystone name will not be used. In the process Hammond merged some of the Eddystone molds with their own to expand their available box sizes while replacing the redundant sizes with their own. The 1590BB style Eddystone used to make with the sharper edges are now Hammmond's 1590BB. At least I haven't seen a recently produced Eddystone 1590BB with the sharp edges. I have a bunch of those still but I got those many years ago. I don't know but maybe they pulled the older molds out for the sharper edge 1590BB. Some of the Hammond labelled case sizes still have the Eddystone name inside them. The 1590J comes to mind.
