Is there any advantage to using a CMOS vs TTL based 555 timer? Or, are most circuits based on using the TTL version?

Thanks.
An oxymoron - clean transistor boost.

Hi
the CMOS version is low power and generally causes less interference (esp via the power supply lines).
for a few cents more it is good insurance against problems
