I'm considering using some sort of momentary tactile switches + relay bypass in my builds instead of the more traditional DPDT footswitch buttons, mainly for reasons of reliability. Any tips on the mechanical construction of such a pedal, though? Building something akin to Boss pedals would probably be a bit out of my league, but I'm open to any suggestions.

Alpha make DPDT momentary footswitches that you could connect in "parallel" so that even if one pole broke it'd still work. Tiny tactile switches like that are only used for cost reasons.

Otherwise, use an "actuator" and a PCB connected with standoffs underneath it with the switch on it.

Well, actually cost and availability are also among my considerations, since I prefer not to bother with shipping, and do with what's available locally instead (which is next to nothing). At least for now, that is. Once I sell a couple of pedals I might have a chance to reconsider.

I've read two articles on Geofex - one with a bolt as an actuator, and one with foam rubber. Has anyone tried either? Pics perhaps? :)
