hey guys how would one go with modding it for Bass guitar. i want all the oscillation and all teh greatness but so that it doesnt suck the BODY off the bass

probably raise the input cap? as the output one is already big?

Actually try the opposite- smaller input cap. Then maybe try mixing some of the dry bass sound in. My son's bass big muff mixes in dry signal and it works really well for maintaining the bass response without gunking up the fuzz too much.

that's also a nice idea but i can't see where i could put the additional 6th knob and a buffer...
hmmm

how about a bass fuzz kind of thing driving a chip or osmething (for super oscillation) plus a dry/wet pot?

help guys, ideas or anything else, something that'll help me to design a pedal :D

i know several bassists who use Boss Line Selector pedals to keep fuzz pedals in a buffered blend-able loop. Works great, although won't satisfy any DIY desires... unless you build it!

vendettav

hmm i just think a buffer could mess with the fuzz! as it alawys does..

hmm any other ideas? like how to mod the circuit into bass one?

Can you elaborate? Wouldn't a smaller input cap cause a higher reactance at lower frequencies? I'm not calling you out...I'm just learning and want to hear why.

the culprit is the tiny cap after Q1. if you can allow a small trimpot or extra knob,  100k pot/10 uf cap  paralleling the .1 gives a whole new world of sounds, works great for bass.

hmm that's interesting. so probably have a the stock C1 and a 10uF paralleled with the pot? so the pot is like a variable resistance and the new cap goes to the transistor as well? I doubt i'll find a room for an additional pot but a trimpot is reasonable :)

yes, v that is exactly how it works. i updated and recvised that old FF thread to illustrate a couple of my favorite f fact mods.  can't stress enough how wonderful the addition of an input gain is to this circuit. it turns an already diverse pedal into  much more of a swiss army knife of OD/ dist/fuzz imo.

i would imagine it's benefits would work well with bass also.

ditto on doug's parallel bass distort ideas as well. really nice sounds from this.

than Joe that's nice, yeah i saw the thread. i guess the gain stage idea is nice tho the only thing is that it'll be super hard to fit it into 1590b you know. so probably 1590bb... which idont have :(

anyways thanx a lot :D
