Another Fuzz Factory mystery...

On my FF, I had the drive up to about 3:00 and the stab down to about  1:00...I then placed the comp at 11:00 and turned the gate up to about 2:00 or just past it, and the octave overtone came out.  What is happening there?  How is the gate control interacting with these other controls to get that overtone??
