input buffer transistor question

Ok,I feel like a total noob here...I was reading a thread from another site(i won't mention),and a guy was talking about changing the input buffer tranny for the boss ds-1 to a n-channel j-fet like a 2SK117,or an MPF-102 etc.,so there's less tone sucking and clarity.So,my question is which one is the input buffer transitor that needs changed?(sorry,i feel like a moron for asking this question!! )
