I am looking for some enclosures akin to the standard Hammond boxes that have slots/ridges lining the inside...suitable for inserting a little cardboard card to block off sections of the interior or even for holding a populated PCB in place.  I think Throbak uses enclosures like this, so maybe they're standard, but I'm not sure what company manufactures them or if there's a particular model number produced by Hammond with this feature.

It's actuallya fairly common feature in those 125-C style enclosures.

Are there any 1590BB types that have those ridges/ribs inside??

If it ain't broke...   ...it will be soon.

side note: those ridges can be very handy for keeping cheap* alpha pots from coming loose and spinning in place. i have seen clever builders use the ribs as a locking groove for the anti-spin tabs that comes on some pots.

* fed up with the potmetal bushings and  inferior nuts on alpha pots. i like the specs of mid 70 american made stuff. more than twice as robust.

The difficulty with the ribs is that they are predicated on the chassis NOT having jacks mounted along any outside edges....which is of course precisely how we use them.  :icon_mad:  If you do manage to get yourself some boxes like that, be careful when planning out the location of jacks.  You'll want any ribs adjacent to the hole for the phone jack to be symmetrical such that they apply the same pressure around the jack and any washers you might use on the inside.  Otherwise, you risk the jack mounting at a bit of an angle.

Apart from that, yes, they do have some nice advantages.  What would be really nice is a chassis that has ribs along the ends or, say, something that leaves the middle 40% along each side smooth and ribless, for installing jacks or switches as required.
