Hi all,

I've acquired a Boss HM-2 Heavy Metal pedal that doesn't power up with a new 9v or an adaptor.

I opened it up and inspected the solder joints from the power switch, battery terminals, and adaptor input. All of them are good.

What could it be? Are the switches in these pedals known to go out after awhile?

Thanks in advance.

1. the pedal will only work with something plugged into the input.
2. A common cause for dead pedals is attaching an AC adapter with the wrong polarity..
This will most likely kill the diode on the voltage input, in this case D2:

Thanks guys!

I know it need the input plugged in, thanks.

I own a old DD-2 Delay and I use one of those, "1Spot", adaptors for it and it works, so I figured it would work for the HM pedal. I will replace that diode and see if will work after that.

Thanks for the schematic! :^)

Take care!
