I have seen several variants that do this but I can't think of the name of one.   :icon_cry:

Most recent was by a member here which used two Bazz Fuss circuits - in series - and a pot to blend between their respective collector outputs.

I'm just wondering if there is an archetypal fuzz for this topology, so I can later say "check out this _____ variant".

Thanks. :)

Fuzzrite, I think that's the daddy of them or maybe the Shin-ei companion fuzz.

Fuzzrite, Orpheum, and Shin-Ei are essentially the same basic two-stage-blend circuit.

A half-dozen or so years ago, I whipped up somethign I called the Roseyray that used that approach, but with op-amps and diodes, blending between a more bluesy overdrive and a searing midscoop metal sound.  It had a few stability issues, but when appropriately tacked, didn't sound half bad.

I'm confident there are more.

Give a man Fuzz, and he'll jam for a day... teach a man how to make a Fuzz and he'll never jam again!

Thanks David.  There's no way I would have found that with the search function.  :)
