lowering drive range minimum setting

I've been working on an OD circuit and have it sound very nice; it's not high gain, more like medium-high, but still nice and aggressive at the top end of the drive range.  The problem is that I want it to have LESS drive at the bottom end of the drive range.  Currently, when I set the drive pot to minimum, it is still pretty crunchy.  It sounds really good, but I'd like to be able to take the drive range down further so that it gets almost (though not quite) clean at the minimum .  I've swapped out several pots ranging from 1K to 10K...currently using a 10K, which covers a decent range, but still want to be able to get it cleaner at the minimum.  Any suggestions?

Need to know more about the circuit.  There are so many different ways to achieve overdrive and vary the amount of Drive. The solution to your problem will likely be different depending on which of these you've actually implemented.  Schematics are good.

Well, I'm working with the Joe Davisson Easy Drive.  The schematic is below...i replaced the 680Ohm pot with a 1K drive pot, then tried a 5K, and finally a 10K.  The 10K was the most responsive in terms of difference between highest and lowest drive settings, but I'd still like it to go lower and clean up better.
