I was hooking up some pedal configurations and came across a interesting combination.  I plugged my guitar into the TS and then into the Fender Princeton simulator (Professor Tweed) then to my amp.  Wow!  What a great sound that is.  Since my rig is solid state I built the Tweed to give my rig sort of a tube sound.   I heard how nice a TS sounds going into a tube amp so I plugged that in and (man I love that setup.)  I sounds like a tube amp.  Not exact but pretty close.  If I was blind folded I would've been fooled.  If you haven't tried a Pro Tweed and you have a TS give it a try IMHO it's a nice sounding overdrive.

The professor tweed is one of the best sounding pedals in my "arsenal" and it sounds awesome in my twin reverb,
either with single coils or with humbuckers.

i never tried it with a TS type OD yet, but with a Rangemaster it was also brilliant.
Last night i run a uni-vibe in the tweed and it was fantastic.

I kinda prefer it straight, though...

Can you record a sound clip?  I would love to hear it and I might just have to build the Professor Tweed.

alderbody

i can't record but you might wanna listen to the clips from ROG.

I really like the Pro Tweed and I wasn't sure I would at the time.  The only drawback is the way the tone control works.  The tone and volume kind of work together in a way.  You can se this if you look at the schematic on ROG.  Mine is stock but ROG describes some mods you can try too.  The Pro Tweed is nice as a stand alone effect also.  There might be other effect combinations that will sound good but the TS really brings it to life.  It would be nice to combine the TS and Pro tweed in one pedal.  Separate they're great but together they're awesome.

I have used the Professor Tweed pedal for both mild subtle distortion/tube amp boost or as a booster in front of my other booster/overdrive pedal to get great sustain and guts during lead solos. I spent over a year trying to find a pedal both store bought and DIY to boost my other pedal for gutsier lead guitar work and couldn't find anything that sounded right until the Professor Tweed Pedal. I love this thing.

I put a Professer Tweed in a box with a Whisker Biscuit fuzz. I like both circuits better together than on their own. The WB gets calmed down by the PT, while the PT gets excited by the WB. (Kinky...)  :P

I prefer my Supreaux as a simple amp emulator, but the PT/WB box makes an awesome fuzz combo!

My Prof. Tweed sound excellent too.  One of my favorites overdrives if not, my favorite one. And -yes- Old Rocker, you're right to say it sound good with the TS.

Yes still one of my favorite tones.  I like to leave the PT on all the time (rhythm with grit) and then kick in the TS for a great lead sound.  Rhythm is great with the TS on also.  Notes are clean not washed like some of my other higher gain distortion pedals.

great to see people loving Professor Tweed. I have recently build it myself and am pretty excited about it too. I have a Sparkle Boost in front of it and it sound good too.
Now that you have mentioned it got to try it also with the Screamer.

Kill Switch

Built one modded for more of a deluxe sound and building another stock for the princeton sound. They do get close to the original tube amps sound.
