I saw this today and thought it might appeal, at least in principal, to some people here:

Cheap, awesome and made me smile!

4x cells @ 1.5V each... that's 6V. so since the LED didn't fry then I guess the resistance of the dough must be in the high kilo-ohms range! not useful for music.... or... maybe useful as a variable resistor of sorts in an LFO?

Make the conductive dough with a bit more water (gooey yeah) but also up the salt value twofold.

Yes it will corrode components with enough time but this isn't about long term fixtures.

only bad and unclean water really conducts. i work on some american food equipment with ice baths. inside those they have two prongs suspended in the ice bath which act as a sensor to know when the water is ice or not. however, with australian water they often don't EVER get the chance to conduct...

What part of Australia lol, water quality is pretty variable here... Adelaide Vs. Country NSW is like Coke Vs. Pepsi lol... plus no flouride in QLD water...

Increasing the salt would have been what actually improved the conductivity - the increase in water (more gooey) would just ensure it worked.

i live near Moorabin, VIC. right near the coca cola site where they bottle Mount Franklin, Pump, and all their waters. spring water my arse....

All I'm saying is don't always assume that there's a big difference between distilled and tap water if the source is clean. ESPECIALLY if you have a filter in your home... if you need conductive water use the dirty tap outside :)
