So, today i put together a circuit that was great on the breadboard!  It has a switch to flip between two different diodes and when i switch to one it sound great at full gain, but as soon as i turn the gain down at all it just dies, the note just sounds really quiet and hardly distorted, then when i switch the diodes it sounds cruddy at full gain really quiet and just like the other diode and the gain problem is even worse?  I think its one of two things, A) i have some bad solder connections  ( my soldering skills would probably make you grimace)  or B)  i burn out   the transistors or diodes or  something.   I have had this problem before.  Does anyone have any suggestions? or ideas
