Well it's my first post, and unfortunately I have some problems with the GGG TOCT kit with the octave footswitch.
The bypass works, the LEDs light up.
When the circuit is engaged no sounds passes, and there is absolutely no sound through the amp, no hum or hissing.
I measured the voltages at the transistors.
(The 9V supply read 10.42V)
Q1
C-3.18V
B-3.13V
E-4.79V

Q2
C-10.42V
B-3.19V
E-2.63

Q3
C-5.53
B-2.63V
E-1.92

I think something looks wrong with Q1, I soldered all the transistors in the way the layout diagram has them.
If you could take a look and see if you can find what could be going wrong it would be amazing, thanks!

I ordered that kit last year
one of the trannys was the wrong part it was a pnp and should have been a npn
or the other way around any way would have been big trouble if I didn't catch it
check the part numbers from the parts list on his site and make sure they are the same
if not email him he will sen you the correct part
hope this helps this is a great sounding pedal

As far as I can tell all the transistors are the right ones. Any other ideas?
Edit: I should add that Q1 is 2n5087, Q2 and Q3 are 2n4401

Well this is like the blind leading the blind
I have only built a couple complete pedals and done a few mods
and they all worked so I never had to debug anything
but I have been reading posts on this site for years and first time failures
are almost allways due to errors
go back and recheck everything you did with the layout check all your solder joints
make sure nothing is shorting out in the box check your switch and all wiring
the key is to take your time and recheck your work
if it still doesn't work you could make an audio probe and start checking with that
or better yet someone with more experience will chime in and help

Dern hard to say, but Q1 doesn't have an operational bias that'd let it pass signal...
C-3.18V
B-3.13V

Q2
C-10.42V
B-3.19V
E-2.63

Q3

B-2.63V
E-1.92

I mean for buffer or gainstage, without schematic it's hard to tell what any of the voltage ballparks are.
What is a TOCT circuit like? schematic ?
Convention creates following, following creates convention.

not to be a smart ass........ build an audio probe, its helped me find more problems and fix more pedals than anything else has. You seem like you may already have an idea by posting voltage readings so this post may be a mute point.

good luck '

And please pardon my ignorance, but i don't really know what to do with an audio probe, does it just check to make sure that there are no bad solder joints? And how do I use one.

You can trace the circuit from input untill you lose signal and then hopefully find the solder joint, bad part, broken trace or at least know where the problem begins. I dont have much time or I would tell you how to make one.... maybe someone else will ring in or it might be in the what to do when it doesnt work sticky.

good luck.............. its a great circuit so dont give up on it.
