I have a Jekyll & Hyde here (older generation, V2 I believe; red box) and one of the switches is no longer switching.  It's a DPDT with solder pins, this looks like it could be the one but I'm not sure if the size is right:

Can anyone verify that?  Thanks.

To the extent that they really did copy the Carling 641 series right, yep, it should work. But I have never seen that particular copy.

Things to watch for: Some of the earlier pedals had really tight PCB holes. So don't try to unsolder and wiggle the whole thing out. Check to be sure the replacement looks like it will fit, then cut off the pins on the top side, freeing the body of the old switch, and remove the old pins one at a time. It's best if you can melt the solder and press them out the top side. This will avoid any tendency to lift the copper pad if you use too much heat. Use a wooden kitchen skewer or whittled-down stick of some kind so you can press them out while the joint is molten, without cooling the joint.

The eventual failure of mechanical switches is one thing that led us to scrap all direct switching in our stuff. Even if they work perfectly, they eventually wear out. And I knew when Carling changed factories, because our new/faulty switch rate went up. I could tell you stories about alternate vendor copies of switches that would either curl or straighten your hair, depending on what it used to be like.  :icon_lol:

In response to the questions in the forum - PCB Layout for Musical Effects is available from The Book Patch. Search "PCB Layout" and it ought to appear.
