im doing a <3pedal church of tone circuit combined with another op amp gain stage. but i dont want to adjust the bias on a trim or pot. i want a fixed resistor, so if its at max gain at 1k normally. would it be safe to say 490ohms is a good middlepoint of the sweep? or should i go higher do you think?

maybe i should breadboard it with a POT and use a multimeter to measure resistance at the tone of gain i want?

am i being lazy?

YOU KNOW WHAT THEY SAY ABOUT LARGE PEDALBOARDS....

.... I BET YOU WISH YOUR PEDALBOARD WAS AS LARGE AS MINE

Yes, you're being lazy.

I've typed in the detailed procedure for biasing a silicon transistor here in the forum a few times.

Ok thank you sir, in all seriousness I need to buy a bigger breadboard, I was given one of these (http://s.ecrater.com/stores/68781/4caddbc07b491_68781n.jpg) by my tubeampguy/family friend and it great. Buy too small for me. I'm one of those guys who is ok with spreading out the circuit on perfboard and using a larger casing because I need to be able to visualize the circuit in my head. And since spread out out I need lots of space lol

Good. If you're willing to put up with learning it that way, you'll be a much better designer some day.
