According to the MadBean notes, if you drop down the 2k2 resistor on the speed pot down to 1k5 and the 27k resistor down to 10k you can get a little more range.

Thanks for the help guys.  I am going to try switching out the opto, transistors and fiddle with the above resistors and see where that gets me.

To me, it almost sounds like there is too much clean signal in the mix.  Is there a resistor that controls the clean affected mix, or is that all opto transistor based?
