How would you add an LPB-1 Booster to pre-gain an Shin Ei FY-2 circuit

Precisely that  :-\

how do I wire an LPB-1 booster before the Shin Ei FY-2 circuit in the same enclosure - I want to use the LPB-1 Vol to pre-boost the signal
into the FY-2. Am also wiring to a 3PDT Foot-Switch, for Bypass and LED ON/OFF indication.

My LPB-1 circuit has the following connections for routing :-

IN
GROUND
9V +
LBP-1 to VOL 3
VOL 1 to GROUND
VOL 2 to OUT

The FY-2 has the following board connections :-

SCOOP 2 / 3
SCOOP 1 / VOL1
Vol 3
FUZZ 1
FUZZ 2
FUZZ 3
GROUND
IN
+9V

Many thanks for your assistance  ;)

If they were in seperate pedals, your patch cable would simply connect the wiper of the LPB-1 level pot to the input of the FY-2, right?  So why bother with a patch cable?  Stick them both in the same box and make the LPB-1 section independently stompable.

Note that, while slightly boosted inputs can render the fuzz more severe, the FY-2 has a tendency to "cave in" in response to high amplitude input signals.  It's delicious when it happens, but you're not going to want to leave it on for very long.

Hi Mark

missed your rapid response

have wired it in and it seems to be working very well. When you say "Cave In" what exactly would that mean, will the FY-2 circuit fail with the booster in parallel or something?

thanks for your advice :)

guess he refers to something i noticed too... when you boost the hell out the input of the FY-2, the more hard you play, the more compression you get, to the point of getting a swell effect

Hi nordine

Cheers for clearing that up  ;)

been noticing how squeezed the growl sounds - for the vibe of the FY-2 - must say I kind of like it.

You get a similar "caving in" effect when you push an Ampeg Scrambler hard too.  Very cool effects though, as I say, not the sort of thing you leave on.
