Fuzz factory HELP....squealing, stab won't dial out.

I built a fuzz factory clone from Guitar FX layout, it works but here the deal. I cannot turn up the gain very much to get heavy gain sustain without squeal. And when it starts squealing, stab doesn't take it out. I have to turn up the gate, which gives the gated sound I don't care for. I have had a real FF and it did not act like that, I could get lots of sustain without squeal. Any quick pointer from those familiar with FF build?

Definitely doesnt sound right.  From the FF's i've built, you got SOME squel but its usually at the extremes.

Did you use long wires to the pots?  This can sometimes cause oscillation.  Ground input wire.  all the usual anti-oscillation advice.  Also, if its not boxed up i tend to get these problems as well.

defo if its not boxed up it can do this.
I though mine was screwed when i fist debugged it.
Then i realised thats how it's supposed to sound hahaha.
I love it.
