looking for a good dark and dirty boost to fit a 1590a that is well suited for bass getar. two knobs would be best so i can get that good and dirty sound with out overloading my solid-state amp. any suggestions?

i was thinking that. but i do want to put it in a 1509a and i am a cheap bastard so i don't what to drop the 30 bucks for the kit only to ditch the pcb ya dig.

You could try this if you have the parts. Worked great on bass for me. I think I used an MPF102 for the second fet, though. You may try trimmers in place of the 10k's. It was biasing about 4.5-5.5V at the Emitter. I was digging on about 5.5. You can also use 1N4148's for the diodes, just check your bias and adjust the resistor (10k's).

do you have a larger copy of that. my eyes are just so so so i need to zoom to see but it gets a little blurry. or if you could just tell me what is written under the fets on the scimatic.

Sorry about that... try this

And if I recall, I also did this with MPF102's and was digging on the results, though not as much dirty gain available. I think I used 1n4148's in that, though, and you would have to adjust the resistor a bit.

You may try 100k trimmers in place of the 10k's and bias it to half voltage or by ear. If you use MPF102's, you could use 10k trimmers, probably.
