I know I came across a post in the past about this, but search as I might I can't find it.

Here's what I want to do:  A friend's band plays along to tracks. They don't like the whole "Drummer with headphones" look so they want a visual cue.

I'm basically just looking to take a line out of his interface which will be just the click, and have it run into a small box which is basically just lighting an LED each time the click happens.

Is it as simple as just running the click into an op amp and sticking an led on the other end?  Any ideas?

hi heemis: here ya go, try this out...

very simple..and sensitive..breadboard it with a line in and see which is best for you.with or without the 10uf..if your only using 1 led whack a resistor on the led too ok... ;)

also try the pin 3 as input ok...

i use it with a guitar in....

tip: use a 10mm superbright led for instance so you can all see it... :icon_cool:

Hi
An LM386 seems ideal - it doesn't need biasing (this will help a lot), is easily set up for low gain, and can drive a high-power LED (eg 200mW) without an extra power amplifier.

Thanks guys!  Will definitely try out that circuit.
