Basically...I want to make my own pedals. I want to start with clones but basically want to build up to making my own.
So my question is...how do i take a schematic look at it and go
"Okay, this wire goes here etc etc"
I can read schematics for the most part, resistors, caps, IC's. But i don't get the wiring aspect of it.
I want to work with PCB, never done vero or perf before.
I don't know what do you guys suggest :)?

15 VIEWS AND NO REPLYS.
YOU GUYS KNOW EVERYTHING. GIVE ME FREE ADVICE FOR NOTHING IN RETURN

Dude, chill out - 15 views is nothing, I suggest a little more patience (and respect) if you want help  :icon_wink:

I recommend generalguitargadgets.com as an excellent starting point for exactly this kind of thing.  Their instructions are superb and include all offboard wiring etc.

For example, a Tubescreamer clone: http://www.generalguitargadgets.com/pdf/ggg_its8_lo.pdf?phpMyAdmin=78482479fd7e7fc3768044a841b3e85a

Hm. I guess you don't understand sarcasm?
Thanks for the link though.

Sarcasm's my first language...  Lost in translation perhaps?

I meant in the beginning how to know where to wire from a schem if you are making your own pcb from a schematic. you know? :icon_razz:

It's a bit unclear whether you have built a pedal before. If you have not, then please consider starting here. It's the Beginner Project, Gus' NPN Boost. Many of us have gotten our start right there.

It will walk you right through the process of building a pedal, from beginning to end. It's really a great project for a self-starter, since just about every possible beginner question has been asked and answered. Besides ending up with a nice sounding boost, you'll learn what you need to do off-board wiring.

If you're not doing it for yourself, it's not DIY. ;)

go to general guitar gadgets and go to the tech pages for wiring.  Shows you how to wire boards to switches and jacks.  if you haven't made a board yet, go to the beginner's project here and do research at Beavis Audio.   The tech pages there and stuff here helped me get started...

I was going to say that was a great troll, but you didn't follow up.
At least you caught the implications of what you were asking, so I'll give you props for that.
Anyhoo...

+1 for the booster project.
After that, go get yourself a copy of the freeware version of Eagle:
http://www.cadsoftusa.com/
so you can lay out your own PCB's (you wanted to learn that, right?)

Then visit Gauss Markov's site to learn how to use it:
http://gaussmarkov.net/wordpress/
It's a lot to read, but it'll get you further than Eagle's own help file.

Then visit Beavis Audio Tech pages for tips on how to wire up everything:
http://www.beavisaudio.com/techpages/
Especially From Schematic to Reality and Stompbox Wiring
I have the Stompbox Wiring pic blown up to 11x17 and tacked on my wall.

After that, it's up to you.
And that's all your gettin' outta me, mister...

well, wherever there's a line connecting parts on a schematic, then that's a connection. it can be a wire or a trace of copper.

check out those sites suggested, also, tonepad.com

Whoa. Thanks for all the links and replys people.
I really appreciate it. I'll get started right away!
