XMOS XC-1 Based Audio/Effects Board

I know its been a while, but I wonder what happened to this project. I'm also interested on working with XMOS chips.

One idea I was wondering about is using an Arduino to handle all the interface, MIDI, etc, and just have the XMOS chip "call" the ATmega chip to check if there's anything he needs to know about and handle that. This way, the XMOS chip can work at full speed, doing only 32-bit Math. 

The idea is simple, one pin will be used to tell if there's anything new on the ATmega (Arduino or not) when this pin is HIGH, the XMOS will them use another 2 pins to receive data. This data can be: parameter change, MIDI input, etc ...

Just a crazy idea, not sure if it will work as I haven't got much time to test this yet. I have the XC1A kit btw.
