volume pedal into wah

Hi,just a quick question.
I was thinking of buying an el cheapo volume pedal and dropping in a homemade wah circuit .Will the circuit work with the volume pedal's pot ?

sometimes yes,  sometimes no. wahs work best in most commercial enclosures when they are non-linear. there are many threads here at this site dealing with this. you can find a lot of info.

But shouldn't all volume pedals be non linear since it's basically just a volume pot in a pedal?

yes , most of them are. but the ernie ball can sometimes use a linear because of the string mechanism. their website says they have used 5 different pot mfgrs and that tapers have not remained constant.
