EAGLE - changing drill sizes on individual components

i've googled this for the last 2 hours and its all gobbledegook to me. most of the answers relate to changing drills in whole libraries!

i've been putting together a PCB using the GM libraries (brilliant stuff! thanks GM!), but i've hit a wall when trying to change the drill sizes for a trimmer. they're obviously bigger than i need for resistors etc, but i just can't fathom how to make them bigger on that individual component. i'd rather not get a bunch of boards back and have to drill each one bigger by hand.

any help much appreciated.

also, if anyone has a component made up for a vertical trimmer that'd be much appreciated. no biggy, but the horizontal one i'm using will be wrong on the silkscreen.

cheers

figured out how to do it at a Library level. annoying i can't do it on a board-by-board basis though.  >:(

You should be able to resize all the pads on one board but not just one component unless you build the part in Eagle yourself I think.  Pester Madbean about it...he knows it great plus he has a big library of parts!
And you'll have to admit, I'll be rich as shit
I'll just sit and grin, the money will roll right in....

The trick is to edit individual libraries to taste. Then you can restring using DRC to increase the size percentage as much as the layout will allow.
In this way you can increase the drill sizes overall (GM's are too small), and you can make sure your 1N4001 diodes and such have bigger holes than R's and C's. etc, etc,

After all these year's, I'm surprised no one has done a GM+ set of libraries for the DIY crowd. I've got mine, but it's pretty messy.

thanks guys. i think this is *almost* ready to take the plunge and send to a fab house. hey, its only a few $$s after all.

would be good to get a recommendation or two for global pad/drill settings in the restring section if you say GMs aren't ideal.

just about to etch a copy to test me trimmer hole sizes  :)

cheers.

You might ask one of the geniuses here like Taylor or Madbean who deal lots with having boards professionally fabbed to give it a once over for you...

i could give that a go. am i just being stupid or what? i can't find anywhere to search for users. i tried an advanced search on a few things (schematic, fuzz) posted by user Mad* or *bean and got nada.

what I am referring to is if you have never dealt with a board fab house there are lots of little details like the gerber files you need to deal with. Most places will work with you though.  Good Luck!

yep, it looks like a minefield. still, it's a simple 1 layer board with silkscreen and solder mask, and at $10 for 10 i think i'll chance it! the DRC comes back error-free.

these guys are real cheap for small runs and probably quicker than futurlec (who keep fking me about delaying orders for components). i just paid £16 for 20 3x3cm boards including silkscreen and solder mask.

not used them before, this being my first fab, but i'll let y'all know how they work out

I know you said you already sent out your files for production, but I thought I'd mention this.  This is all I read before I did my first professionally fabbed board.  Maybe it doesn't cover everything, but it was enough to get me started: http://www.sparkfun.com/tutorials/109

I also found this helpful:  http://www.sparkfun.com/tutorials/115

I believe on one of those pages they link to their in-house Eagle library and DRC file.

cheers. i'll read it all very carefully while they fab my boards inside-out  :icon_redface:
