Gristleizer problem...

Hi all,

I think I really goofed. I just finished putting together one of Taylors Gristlizer's the other day, tuned it and it was working alright. I just thought that the higher notes were a little harsh, so today I thought about maybe trying a small cap to ground on the output side, sort of like a tone cap on a guitar. I found a cap that was just right (to my ears), and I was retuning the triangle by ear when all of a sudden the unit... well... fizzled, for lack of a better term. The unit still works, but the volume is reduced, the sound is more distorted, and harsh enough that you can hear the ticking. In VCF mode, it's even worse. Very crunchy and distorted. With the cap in place to ground, I get a high pitched squealy noise when I max the volume.

I'm a total noob at this. I'm experimenting, learning by trail and error. If anyone has an idea as to where the problem may lie, I'd appreciate the input. I've talked to Taylor via email a couple of times, a really cool dude. I just didn't want to bother him again. Just thought it was time to display my foolishness publicly.

Should of done what they taught me in the Navy.... if it works, don't f**k with it!

Any ideas? Anyone?
Cheers.

Hello I have the same problem with my gristleizer. I guess you have solved your problem. Please. Could you advise me about it?
Excuse my bad English.
Cheers

Check all your solder connections on the board. I found that I had over-heated (burned) a solder pad on one of the resistor, and I wasn't getting continuity anymore. I solved it with a jumper.

Hope this helps,
Dino
