In my section of the gallery - caseys vintage effects, there's a circuit in there that supposedly works and it features a crazy chip.

So he has the input going through a transistor, then into the RESET pin of the 555, and out through the output pin.  Why would this work?  The input signal can only reset the IC and nothing can pull it out of the reset state.  I know in a CMOS IC any pins not tied to ground/+V will be unreliable; is he relying on this to make noise modulated with the input signal?
I made the transistor angry.
