Need a 500K pot and all i have is 100K....is there any way to hack it up (i know you can parallel to get a lower value, but that doesn't help me)

radio shock doesn't sell 500k around here.

otherwise will have to snail mail something in...

Mark Hammer

maybe you DON'T need 500k.

What's it for?

TS type circuit....gain obviously

Pop a fixed-value resistor in there - maybe 330K, and ride your guitar's volume pot - while you wait for snail-mail...

Here's your chance to learn a bit of electro-math, assuming you have the components and patience.

A TS uses a 51k and 500k pot in the feedback loop.  The equivalent would be a 10k resistor and 100k pot.  The 51pf feedback cap rolls off highs around 5.6khz at max gain.   For a 10k+100 arrangement, the equivalent would be 270pf.

The max gain of a TS is 118x.  Replacing the 4k7 ground-leg resistor with 820R-1k will put you in the same range.

The .047uf/4k7 network gets you a low-end rolloff around 720hz.  Replacing the .047 cap with .22uf will put you in the same place.

There you go.  A fully functioning TS with the same tonal and gain properties and a 100k gain pot.
