Hello all, I did a net search hoping to find something on this topic & wound up here.
Cool place!
I'm a 50 y/o guitar player & I picked up a EQ700 pedal used on the cheap & in great condition.
I was hoping to boost the bass output. Anyone done this yet?
Other than the jacks (in/out/pwr), on/off switch, led, 8 faders & barrel caps, all other components are smt's.

Overall it's a great pedal, a bit noisy when used with distortion.
My amp is a Line 6 Spider 3 2x12.
I'm not in a band so I just jam by myself (writing original tunes) or occasionally jam with another guitar player and sometimes I use the EQ when recording guiatr direct into my dedicated Korg D3200 recording deck and use it in conjunction with other outboard guitar effects pedals - that's where the noise that is not wanted comes into play. It's only the EQ that's noisy, it's not much, but any is way too much when recording.
Sadly, the Spider 3's bass control doesn't 'go up' enough for me and I'm looking for a bit more bottom end punch & thump at low volume (all my stuff's in the living room).

It's not a big thing and I'm only addressing it here & now because I was just playing around with it again and decided to try searching the web about it.
Thanks for any help & advice!

Hey Jim!
so when you boost the bass frequencies(200 and 400hz) is not enough? ???

if playing at low level try reducing mid and hf content to compensate.
btw 200 and 400hz are considered mids, lower mids but mid none the less.

No on the 200-400 not being enough, at least as far as low volume punch is concerned.
It doesn't help that the Spider amps eq controls are barely noticeable.

Sounds like what you need is post-distortion filtering. It wouldn't help much to crank the bass before distortion, it only makes things "fuzzy". But it looks like the Spider 3 150 doesn't have an FX loop. Could you insert a "virtual" EQ effect after the amp?
