Fuses?

I've been wondering, what could a fuse do in a pedal? Would it clip, act as a resistor, or just pop?
Would a circuit breaker do the same thing or act as a switch?
Just an odd question I can't seem to find out. Merry Christmas and thanks for the help!

nothing..
A fuse is a wire that self destructs when it gets too hot.. this is caused by current, with the voltage rating for ensuring the voltage will not jump the gap.

A circuit breaker is a standard switch connection with a spring..
So nothing..

Fuses are little lengths of high-resistance and low-melting-point wire. They are carefully designed so that at more than their rated currents, the metal melts and the wire link opens. Circuit breakers do the same thing, but usually magnetically.

So in a pedal: most pedals can't produce enough current to overheat/overcurrent a fuse. So the fuse would continue to look like a bit of wire. Ditto a circuit breaker. Neither one would clip or resist much until you got a lot of current through it. If you did manage to, they'd just open.

In response to the questions in the forum - PCB Layout for Musical Effects is available from The Book Patch. Search "PCB Layout" and it ought to appear.

Thanks guys,
Another one of "those" questions put to rest
