waterslide decal help

I've just done 2 pedal with waterside decals. They look amazing but i have a couple of questions.

On one of them there are lots of tiny air bubbles trapped underneath. I tried using a credit card to smooth out the air but it just stretched the decal so i stopped. Is there a better way to do this?

On the other it looked great, but once i clear coated the whole enclosure the clear coat cracked over the decal, but no where else. Any reason why? How do i stop it?

You want to use a damp paper towel to get rid of the air bubbles.
