Can I change metalized Ppolyester capacitors (like Mallory type) for foil polypropylene Capacitors (like Orange Drop type)

one of my friend tells me that orange drop are better but I'm not sure I can replace them,

... and are they really better ?

it's for an amp if it's could help

Thanks

What's 'Better'? It's subjective, you might not like them and there's no cut and dry on if caps make a tonal difference, some people say they do, others don't, i'd beleive it more in an amp than a pedal though atleast.

Sure it'll probably change the tone though, but that's because the values probably wont be exactly the same due to tollerances.

As long as the caps are the same value and rated for high enough voltages, you can change them.

I've had my guitars on mylar all the time , no , it's not like i am cheap or what , i have orange drops ( albeit old ) and many MKP capacitors .
They don't really make a difference unless it's the exact same guitar ( which is not likely , manufacturing can't go that far ) , same inductance pickups , same resistance pots , same capacitance value pots , same amount of wiring .

He said it's for an amp... at high voltage cap type MIGHT make a difference, I couldn't comment.

In a guitar nah I doubt it makes any difference unless you want it to.

Thanks

So I think I will go with the Orange drop, if someone had try both please tell me what you think about them,

great but it's make me think so something else,

if it's write a 100uf-50v, can I put 100uf-100v

I already made I project without 100ohm (1/2w) so I put 2w resistors and it's work well, I pretty sure it's the samething for capacitor, but just want to be sure

Thanks

Yup, 100V rating will be fine, although perhaps physically a bit larger.

Careful of those high voltages in there though!

My mistake guys  :icon_mrgreen:
Of course a higher rating will either do better or worse .
Go with the 100v rating if so you please  :icon_mrgreen:
