Tone Control for the End of Times

Yet another tone control.  Messing with LT Spice and verified with Duncan Tonestack.  This one is a little different in that it is a combination notch filter/treble control.  At max treble, it has approx. 12db notch centered at 750Hz.  When the treble is changed the notch doesn't move as it does on the BMP, etc.  The treble goes up or down pivoting/shelving around 1kHz.  Other resistor values are provided to move the notch center and depth.  Also, the cap values can be changed.  Note that the treble is affected by the resistance prior to the control as are most of these types of tone controls.  Between 1k and 10k is preferable.  Rock on until it's too late.  ;)

About all I can do is think about it...
Treble control has made 'it' good, while that's true, the thought of a notch bump or dip in addition to the basic treble control [cap 'n pot to gnd.] seemed obvious/appealing but I haven't applied any yet.
Convention creates following, following creates convention.

That's funny...when I first saw the plot, I immediately thought "that looks like varying the treble control of a baxandall with the bass maxed.'

Then low and behold, I saw in the upper right hand corner, a screenshot of that very thing.

That said, for those not afraid of more than one knob, why not add the bass control.

And if you don't mind a bass and a treble control, well, why not just make it a baxandall-type circuit that utilizes negative feedback around an op amp?

And at that, with a few more knobs, you have a 3-band or better yet, a graphic EQ...

Good call, but you'll notice several of the Bax components cancelled out by the values selected.  I modify the Bax to get it to work with various other RC networks.  I just wanted a 1 knobber.  I usually cut the bass thru the distortion so max it out afterwards.  Since the mid notch doesn't move thruout the treble adjustment range, it makes it easier to get the notch where you want it.  The mids do increase as the treble is decreased.

I use a Valve Jr. in my bedroom/lab and it doesn't have any tone controls, so this is it.  ;)
