ok, so i am following the directions i found on instructables to install the keeley ultra/seeing eye mod into my ds-1.

http://www.instructables.com/id/Modify-Your-Boss-DS-1/

i completed it a few nights ago, but instead of running d4 to a switch and d5 to an led in the case, i just installed the LEDS on the board, thinking that this would give me the same situation as if the switch was always on.

i put the whole thing back together, and it sounded pretty rad.  almost too much gain for my taste, because it could not be used for death metal.  it sounded pretty sweet tho.  well, i got my spst switches in the mail today, ripped the whole thing apart again, drilled the holes, and got it all installed.  now when the effect engages there is NO distortion.  it has the volume booster, but that is all.

i also found a mod about removing r40, as it is non existent in older pedals (such as the one pictured in the instructables file), so i decided to put it in a toggle as well.  it doesnt make any difference tho, as there is still no distortion....

nevermind.  fixed it.  delete please.

Try LEDs + 1N34A' in series for both D4 & D5  !

I have the same problem, everyhting seems OK sound is getting out and I can not find any bad solder joints.

But the "Dist" pot seems to work more like a volume booster than a distortion setting.

So please if you could specify how you fixed it that would be nice.

Thanks  :)

Just in case, I'm using this document :

with the ultra diode mod switch but without the seeing eye diode mod switch (pages 14-15)

i think one of the wires for the offboard wiring came loose.  check all your offboard wiring.

Thank you, I'm gonna try that.
