Just got a reply from Evatron. Their EVA60 aluminium enclosures
http://evatron.com/index-pag-products-cid-13-sid-130-l-2.html
(same size as MXR or Hammond 1550B) are only £2 each!
Compare with closer to £5 for the Maplin equivalent...
Also, although the photo shows PCB slots, they assure me that they are actually smooth inside.

Is it the sort of thing you'd have to group buy?

Rapid have similar  Evatron ones, bit pricier depending on what Evatron charge for shipping and stuff. http://www.rapidonline.com/Tools-Fasteners-Production-Equipment/Cases/Metal-Cases/Diecast-aluminium-enclosure-natural/122722

I've been using these boxes ever since I bought a box of 20 a couple of years ago. I was pleased to see their prices haven't changed much.

does anyone know if the depth of 30mm on the EVA 60 is including the lid or not?

Total internal vertical space with the lid ON is 25.5mm. Just enough to fit a PP3 on its side.

Anyone know where to get these types of enclosures for cheaper in the UK? Particularly the M5004 model.

Sorry to put up this thread again, but have you seen the prices of these enclosures? They are twice the price they used to be, jeez!
