Breaboard problem + dead multimeter= what to do?!

Hi all,

I've been breadboarding a simple fuzz circuit (bazz fuss) and once i plug in all i get out of it is a clean sound with a hint on fuzzed up signal very low in the background, or completely clean with the volume up.

To make things easier, my multimeter has decided to pack up, so I'm without one. Any alternative checks I could do without the meter?

The circuit is this

Input and Output caps are 10uF.

I first thought having mistakenly put a 100K res could have been the problem and rectified it. Still, nothing changed. The signal comes through clean with a faint hint of fuzzy notes in the very background.

Any input/advice? Or hard to tell without the multimeter?

Thanks a lot in advance!
Alex

Hi fellow spaceman and thanks for the input!

Checked and double checked diode and caps. All good.

Photo... I'm possibly the only person who in 2012 doesn't own a digital camera. That's my best attempt at taking a photo of it with my phone. Probably not very helpful...! :)

Black is Ground, Red +9, Green to lug2, Yellow is the input, Pink to lug3. Lug1 to out. No bypass.

EDIT: I actually added the photo this time round ;)

Very important question... Are you using the MPSA13 If you are not using a darlington transistor, then try a 100k instead of 10k, or use a second tranny to make the darlington.
Give a man Fuzz, and he'll jam for a day... teach a man how to make a Fuzz and he'll never jam again!

Hey there,
I am indeed using the Darlington.
Having mistakenly used a 100K instead of the 10K int he first run shouldn't have caused any problem should it?

The output jack should be connected to the middle of the pot.

And you nned to coonect that battery (JOKE!)

Did the swap as suggested so I'm now wired up like this:

Still, no changes... :(
