How do I substitute LDR's for pots in my atari punk console?

Got an APC that I've been wanting to add LDR's in place of pots. Seems fairly simple, but confirmation is always good.

Here is the layout I used... http://www.aronnelson.com/gallery/main.php/v/DRAGONFLY-LAYOUTS_0/album19/album145/ATARI_PUNK_CONSOLE_VERO_001.gif.html

Basically I'm thinking it's one lead of the LDR to 9V+, the other lead to where lug 1 of pot originally goes, then repeat for the 2nd pot. Right? I plan on building this into a real BOAR SKULL so our vocalist can freak people out, as a side note.   :icon_evil: ;D

Thanks guys!

On another note, how could I patch in the 2 LDRs to an extra set of jacks? Could i switch pots to LDRs with 2 stereo jacks? Just in case my homie wants pots OR LDRs in both dark/light situations.

Keep the pots, connect the LDRs across the pots (ie in parallel). Maybe include switches so you can switch off the LDRs.

Ok. So I can attach the leads of the LDRs to lugs 1 and 3 of the pots? Adding a switch makes sense, but without it would both pots and LDRs be active? As in I would have to turn both pots to zero to reach the full range of the LDR's? thanks freq you rock homie.

Yes they'd both be active without a switch. You should try both ways and see what works best. Maybe for maximum flexibility you'd want either/or/both.

Also, bear in mind that an LDR in parallel with the pot will half the value of the pot, so you might want to use 1M instead of 500K.

Ah see I have an unlabeled grab bag of random LDRs. Is there a relation of the size of the ldr to its resistance? Would it be safe to assume the bigger the LDR, the more resistance? Either way its time to throw down, add some switches and LDR sockets. Thanks freq for the quick replies.

TIGHT.
