Sorry for the newb questions, but I'm trying to do something I haven't exactly found either through a forum search here, or just google.

I am planning to build a bass version of the noisy cricket2 as a bass headphone practice amp with the following ins/outs - 1/4" mono in for the bass, 1/8" stereo in for an aux-in (MP3 player), 1/8" stereo out instead of 1/4" speaker out.

For the input, should I just directly connect the mono tip and the aux stereo-in to a single wire leading to the JFET, or should I just route the aux stereo-in straight over to the stereo-out?  I'm thinking the latter since it shouldn't need any additional amplification, and I just want to get a mix of the bass with the music from the aux-in through the stereo out, and I can control the volume of the aux-in with the input device (ipod).

For the output, I just want the headphone out, not combo headphone/speaker, can I just wire up the 1/8 jack in place of the 1/4, and add the 10ohm resitor to ground as in the runoffgroove headphone mod, or do I need to do some additional filtering for the amp to work correctly without any speaker load?

Thanks!

oh - if anyone has a suggestion for a more directly applicable project than a mod'ed Ruby/Noisy Cricket for a bass practice solution, please point me there.   This seemed like the best route from what I could find.
